Behind the Scenes at Arches canvas print by Ray Mathis. Bring your artwork to life with the texture and depth of a stretched canvas print. Your image gets printed onto one of our premium canvases and then stretched on a wooden frame of 1.5" x 1.5" stretcher bars (gallery wrap) or 5/8" x 5/8" stretcher bars (museum wrap). Artist's Description
These are not your typical shots from Arches National Park, and the light wasn�t the best, but I like finding and photographing features others haven�t. If you know Arches, you know that golden rocks like these are rare. As I scanned their surroundings, I�m wasn�t even sure how they got there or where they came from. However, they were so striking that I couldn�t resist photographing them. I plan to try to capture them in better light, but for now, I offer these behind the scenes images of Arches National Park.
About Ray Mathis
I started out shooting the "old fashioned way" with a 4x5" field camera and by creating color transparencies. I then scanned them at either 1200 or 2400 dpi. Every effort is made to match the original transparency. That said, there was a time when I developed cataracts, and scanning and preparing images for this website became difficult. Now that I've had surgery and can see clearly again, some of the images seem a bit too saturated in color. That's because cataracts mute colors. It's like looking through window covered with a film of grime and dirt. The challenge and reward in 4x5" landscape photography is to capture things as they really are, and get the exposure just right. And at over $6 a shot, it pays to be very selective. ...
