Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is one of the newest, and biggest national monuments, being established in 1996. It's located in southwestern Utah. These images were taken along the Boulder-Notom Road heading East out of the small town of Boulder. About 20 miles East, the road drops down into a deep red-walled canyon. This canyon eventually ascends through Capitol Reef like canyon walls. The road eventually becomes The Burr Trail, which descends to Notom Road on the East side of Capitol Reef National Park,
